Restoring Deleted WordPress Content \sRestoring Deleted WordPress Content
Just like your computer, WordPress doesn’t completely delete your items permanently in the first place. It first moves your deleted items into a Trash folder.
The deleted content stays in the Trash for 30 days. After that, WordPress automatically deletes the item permanently from the trash. But, if you try to delete your Trash too, then only all the items in the Trash will be deleted permanently.
Yet, you can recover those posts if you have a backup of the files before being deleted. We’ll show you the whole process, so keep reading.
With that said, let’s look at different ways you can recover your deleted pages in WordPress. We’ve tried to explain each one of them in detail below.
How to Recover Deleted Blog Posts & Pages on WordPress?
There are several ways in which you can recover deleted blog posts & pages on WordPress. Here, we’re going to see five different ways in which you can recover deleted blog posts & pages on WordPress.
Let’s begin with the first method – recovering a post immediately after deleting it.
Method 1: Recover Immediately Deleted Blog Posts & Pages
This is the very first method that you can try by yourself. If you delete your posts/pages and then realised the mistake immediately. In such cases, the best thing you can do is not to panic.
WordPress gives you an option of Undo to undo your action immediately. Hence, let’s look at how this works.
Suppose you’ve logged in to your WordPress dashboard and you’re inside your Pages or Posts section. And you inadvertently removed a blog article or a page.
When your blog is erased, a little notice will appear below the Add New button. “1 page transferred to the Trash,” it reads. Along with that, there is an option named ‘Undo.’
Delete a WordPress blog page by mistake and then press Undo to recover it
To remove anything from the trash, use the Undo option.
If you wish to recover your page from the Trash right away, you must choose that option. Following that, another message will appear stating, “1 page recovered from the Trash.”

As a result, using the Undo button, you may quickly recover your erased blog entries. This strategy will only work if you use it after you’ve inadvertently destroyed your blog page/post.
Method 2: Recover Posts/Pages from WordPress Trash
In the first technique, we looked at how to recover a blog post that has been deleted. But, what if you want to restore your post/page that you’ve removed a few hours or days previously.
For such type of circumstance, this second option would be excellent for you all. As previously stated, the deleted page/post will not be totally removed from your WordPress account. Because they are kept for up to 30 days in a ‘Trash’ folder.
As a result, we’ll utilise that Trash folder to recover our deleted posts/pages on WordPress. Let’s get started.
Select the Trash Button
Select the Trash Button.
Navigate to your Pages or Posts area and choose the Trash icon. This will allow you to see all of the pages that have been removed in the previous 30 days.

Following that, you must pick the page that you wish to restore, and you will be presented with two alternatives. All you have to do is click Restore, and your page will be restored from the Trash bin.
You may also recover many pages/posts from the Trash folder at once. To do so, pick the pages and then choose the Restore option from the Bulk action drop-down box.

After you’ve chosen Restore from the menu, use the Apply button to preserve your changes.
That’s all! This is how you restore lost pages/posts from WordPress’s Trash folder. It’s the quickest and simplest way to recover deleted WordPress blog posts and pages.
Method 3: Use WordPress Backup to Restore Permanently Deleted Content
This procedure is much more difficult than the previous ones. You may, however, employ this procedure with competent advice. Anyways, you should proceed with this strategy only if the other two procedures fail.
We’ll use this method to restore permanently deleted content from a backup. However, you must have a backup file of your website stored before deleting the lost material.
Now, let’s go through the steps one by one!
I Save Your WordPress Backup
First and foremost, you must download a backup of your WordPress site. As previously said, it should be a backup made before the posts/pages were destroyed.
Now, go to the backup storage place where your website backups have been kept. You’ve probably backed up your site with a WordPress backup plugin like UpdraftPlus.
Plugin Updraftplus

UpdraftPlus allows you to plan backups on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and store the backup files in remote sites such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
In another situation, your website’s backups may be kept by your web hosting company. If this is the case, you may look for a backup on your hosting account’s dashboard. If you can’t locate it, contact your hosting provider and ask them to provide you a backup of the needed date.
We’ll utilise backup files from the UpdraftPlus Google Drive folder for this tutorial.
On our website, we have daily backups of both WordPress files and databases that are kept in Google Drive.

As a result, we may go to our Google Drive and download the necessary backups.
UpdraftPlus generates a folder in your Google Drive called ‘UpdraftPlus’ and saves your WordPress Database, Plugins, Themes, Uploads, and Others in distinct subfolders.
Simply download the database folder to retrieve stuff such as posts and pages. Choose the database that has the needed date.
Find the Backup Folder for the WordPress Database.

After that, just right-click on the chosen Database backup and choose Download to your PC.

The database folder will then be downloaded to your local device.
ii) Create a Local Website to Restore Deleted Content.
Following that, you must install WordPress on a local server.
It’s necessary because we’ll first restore the deleted posts to the local site before copying the relevant content to the live website.
You may potentially restore material on your live site, but we don’t suggest it for two reasons.
For starters, it may create mistakes and disrupt your live website.
Second, you may not want to restore all of the posts in that backup. Restore plugins such as UpdraftPlus do not allow you to choose individual posts for restoration; instead, they restore all posts contained in the backup. As a result, it’s safe to restore the database on a local site and simply transfer the necessary posts to the live site.
If you don’t know how, please follow our step-by-step tutorial on installing WordPress on localhost using XAMPP. You may skip this step if you’ve previously installed WordPress locally.
iii) Setup UpdraftPlus on Your Local Site to Recover Deleted Posts
After you’ve set up your local site, you’ll need to install a backup and restore plugin. We’ll be using the UpdraftPlus plugin for this lesson.
Go to ‘Plugins > Add New’ on your dashboard panel and search for ‘UpdraftPlus.’ When the plugin is shown, click the ‘Install Now’ button.
Install the UpdraftPlus WordPress Plugin right now.

Then, go to Settings > UpdraftPlus Backups. And then scroll down to the section titled Existing Backups.

Similarly, you may examine the restored pages by going to ‘Pages > All Pages’. The ‘wpth posts’ table in the WordPress database contains both posts and pages, so when you restore the table, both will be restored.
iv) Move Content from the Local Site to the Live Site
It’s time to migrate your deleted posts and pages to the live site now that they’ve been restored to the local site.
We’ll do it by hand, duplicating the postings one at a time. But don’t worry, it will only take a few clicks.
For example, we’ll teach you how to copy a post and then paste it into the live site. In your local site dashboard, go to ‘Posts > All Posts’ and then click on the ‘Edit’ option below the post you wish to transfer.

Similarly, you may restore more articles and pages from your backup in WordPress!
Method 4: Use Google Cache to Recover Your Site’s Content
You may not always be able to locate your deleted blog posts and pages in the Trash folder. In such situation, recovering your deleted pages and posts becomes somewhat more difficult. As a result, Google Cache may be useful in this situation.
Because there is a good likelihood that Google crawled your website at some point. And saved it on its server for subsequent retrieval for different reasons.
Let’s have a look at how you may utilise Google Cache to recover deleted posts and pages in WordPress.
Begin by visiting to Google and searching for the post/page by title “site:www.example.com/name of the post.” Remember to change the word “example” to the name of your website.
